In today’s fickle economic times, it’s hard to know which investments are worth the effort. However, Dr. Jill Wade of Stonebriar Smile Design in Frisco, Texas maintains that investing in yourself is guaranteed to yield a good return on investment.

Why Investing in Your Smile Matters

Dr. Wade, DDS, MAGD has been a dentist for nearly 30 years, and she’s witnessed the life-changing effects of specifically investing your smile. In partnership with Dr. Jodi Danna, both dentists were educated and trained in Dallas, Texas, at Baylor College of Dentistry. Their training was also their first foray into cosmetic dentistry as part of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) program and Advanced Cosmetics, but it definitely wasn’t the last. They’ve studied under the guidance of some of the “top professors in the world” and undergo 75 hours of continuing education every year in order to keep their credentials up-to-date.

Dr. Jill Wade, who also has a dental practice in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, urges people to stop thinking about the investment as being limited to your teeth, because for many people, it’s a life-changing experience, and it can be for you, too.

You might be wondering why anyone would spend so much money on their teeth. “Because you are a sure thing,” answers Dr. Wade. “Your teeth are an enhancement of who you are as a person,” Dr. Jodi Danna, DDS adds. “Any time you smile, anytime you talk, anytime you’re meeting someone, that’s the first thing that they see.”

Smile Makeovers Are Uniquely Personal

Smile makeovers aren’t just for those in the public eye. Dr. Danna attests that it’s a personal enhancement that “makes you feel better about who you are as a person.” Dr. Wade and Dr. Danna have seen how new smile designs restore confidence, but not every new smile is the same for every person, and not every person needs the same kind of smile makeover. They craft smiles unique to the individual, unique to you—a smile that suits your needs, your face, and your desires.

“The people that we enhance their smiles, they’re from every walk of life—from young to older— and their reason behind making the decision to do that is individual to them,” reveals Dr. Jodi Danna. From a widower who’s getting back in the dating world to young professionals getting married, the dentists and staff at Stonebriar Smile Design hope you’ll be just as inspired as they are by the “smile stories” they share. They’ve done it all, including porcelain veneers, clear aligners, and teeth whitening, among other procedures.

Your Smile Isn’t Just About Aesthetics

Health and beauty expert Laura Lewis-Edwards states that “getting a smile makeover can actually make one look not only healthier, more attractive, boost their confidence, but it can reverse…the hands of time,” speaking about the aging process. However, cosmetic dentistry isn’t just about aesthetics. In some cases, it’s about functional issues such as lost teeth, muscular headaches, difficult or hindered chewing, which can lead to digestion troubles. “If we’re not chewing our food well, that’s where it all starts,” says Dr. Wade. “Our digestive tract can really have a hard time if we’re not chewing our food properly.”

Laura Lewis-Edwards, and her husband, are one of many lives transformed by a smile makeover. They’ve both admitted to feeling happier, because, “scientifically, if you smile more, you actually are happier,” she states.

Maybe you’re someone who has their mouth closed all the time, avoids the camera, refrains showing your teeth when you smile, or covers your mouth when you speak. To that, Dr. Wade says, “You’re the ones we’re talking to.” There is a procedure available for you, whether it’s orthodontics, veneers, crowns, or something else, Stonebriar Smile Design has a solution for you.

Smile Stories

Randy Edwards, husband of Laura Lewis-Edwards, was one such person who wouldn’t show any of his teeth when he talked. He’d previously had veneers on several teeth, but unfortunately, the job was substandard. Dr. Danna took an interest in rectifying Randy’s smile and discovered issues in his mouth that were far beyond just aesthetic. He’d dealt with discomfort for so long that he’d hadn’t realized the pain he’d been enduring on a daily basis. He was unable to properly masticate his food with his back teeth, “only hitting on one molar on both sides, and it was painful to his jaw,” describes Dr. Jodi Danna. “We call that, in our world, ‘traumatic occlusion’ or a ‘traumatic bite’ because you’re pounding on specific teeth.”

After having a consultation with Randy, where he revealed he wanted to look like Jon Bon Jovi, Dr. Danna designed a new smile for him, which included upper and lower veneers. Now his pain is relieved, he can chew properly, and he feels like a rock star with an envious smile—so much so that his wife now calls him “Hollywood.”

Speaking about his smile makeover, he says:

“I’ve become more confident. I smile a lot more. I smile bigger, I’m happier, much, much more confident than I was before.”

“I was widowed,” says Laura Lewis-Edwards as she opens up about her smile makeover. “I had a tragic loss. I was a young widow, and my daughters were only six and three, and I had gotten into television… Because I was on camera, I wanted my teeth to look pretty, and I wanted to restore my confidence that I had lost when I had such a tragic loss.”

Dr. Jodi Danna gave her veneers on her upper teeth producing a “gorgeous smile” as Laura Lewis-Edwards describes it. “I felt confident when I would smile,” she states. A decade later, Laura took notice of her smile once again, how it looked in pictures, and saw that her teeth were darker, and it started to make her a bit self-conscious. So she paid another visit to Dr. Danna and had her lower teeth made over with veneers as well. Now, she says she feels “like a million bucks,” more confident, and like she can open her mouth and laugh without feeling the need to cover my mouth. She also admits to having previously had very sensitive teeth, but thanks to her veneers, she’s got “gorgeous, five-star armor.”

Speaking of her smile makeover, Laura Lewis-Edwards says:

“I feel fantastic. I see pictures of myself, and I notice my smile looks better, even though people said I already had a great smile. There’s just something about that, to just have the whole smile just really look beautiful and white, and it makes me feel really confident.”
