Meet Cheryl Rivera – Lead Dental Hygienist
With more than 30 years of experience in the dental field—and nearly 23 of them right here at Stonebriar Smile Design—Cheryl Rivera is a cornerstone of our team. Known affectionately by many patients (and team members!) as “Mama Cheryl,” she brings a rare combination of clinical excellence, deep compassion, and genuine joy to everything she does.
Cheryl studied at Wharton County Junior College and is certified in nitrous oxide sedation. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to staying on the cutting edge of dental technology and techniques. Her favorite part of her role? Using modern tools to help patients achieve long-lasting dental wellness and uncover health insights that often begin in the mouth. Her deep understanding of how oral health connects to total body wellness has helped countless patients feel better, inside and out.
Beyond her technical skill, Cheryl is beloved for her warmth, kindness, and calming presence. Whether it’s a new patient or someone she’s seen for years, she takes the time to truly care—and it shows.
Cheryl and her spouse Oscar share a full and vibrant life with their four children, five grandchildren, and three beloved fur babies. She’s actively involved in the Frisco Flyers Special Olympics, where her son Payton competes in bowling and Cheryl coaches. When she’s not in the office, you’ll likely find her at a family BBQ competition or planning the next fun event for the team—because, yes, she’s also our unofficial party coordinator!
If you ask anyone who knows her, they’ll tell you: Cheryl has a heart of gold, an infectious laugh, and the rare gift of making everyone around her feel like family.
